PANASONIC AND SCHLAGE® ALIGN TO SIMPLIFY HOME SECURITY

Panasonic Cameras and Schlage Locks Allow Remote Monitoring and Access Control

Denver, CO (September 3, 2008) – Panasonic today announced the formation of a strategic relationship with Schlage®, a trusted brand of door locks, to deliver homeowners with a customizable home security solution. The alliance unites the Schlage LiNK, the first and only wireless-controlled door lock, with Panasonic’s Remote Monitoring Solutions, allowing homeowners to view real-time video of their home from any web-enabled mobile phone or computer. This new innovative system, along with many other Panasonic communication solutions, will be demonstrated at Panasonic’s CEDIA booth, number 825 on September 3-7 in Denver, Colorado.

The footage from a Panasonic network camera, which is accessible via the camera tab on the Schlage LiNK online portal and mobile application, gives homeowners the power to identify visitors. The Panasonic network camera interfaces with new Schlage LiNK deadbolts and locks that allow homeowners to control keyless entry through 4-digit access codes that can be entered, activated, deleted or disabled on the lock’s 11-digit push button keypad, or via the Schlage LiNK web portal or mobile application. This technology also offers homeowners the Schlage LiNK online portal to set up user codes for specific days and times, receive text or e-mail notifications when certain codes are used and track codes that have been used over the past 90 days.

These features deliver peace of mind to the parents of active families so they know exactly when their children, family members, friends and even service providers are entering their home. It also does away with the need to regularly replace locks for rental properties and second homes.

Panasonic network cameras are available through Authorized Panasonic Dealers. The Schlage LiNK Starter Kit retails for $299 and includes one Schlage LiNK deadbolt or lock, a wireless Z-Wave Bridge and a compatible light module. Additional Schlage LiNK deadbolts or locks will retail for $199.

There is also a $12.99 monthly subscription fee for use of the Schlage LiNK online portal and mobile applications. With the monthly subscription, homeowners also receive 100 MB of memory for storing video.

The lock works great, and you do *NOT* need to buy the Schlage bridge or pay the Schlage monthly service. Vera, from Mi Casa Verde, fully supports the Schlage locks, uses the same level of security, also supports remote access from web and cell phone, does everything the Schlage bridge does and MUCH MORE (see: http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Side_By_Side_Comparison). And there is *NO* mandatory subscription fee. Through 3/31/09 Mi Casa Verde is giving everyone who buys Vera + the Schlage LiNK a lifetime subscription to their online hosted services as well, which is normally $199. You save $100 by buying the Schlage lock without their bridge, plus $150/year by not using their subscription, and $199 from Mi Casa Verde. See: http://micasaverde.com/schlage_promo.php This makes it more affordable, and you get a real, full-featured home control system that supports all Z-Wave devices and does energy monitoring too.
